Thought it was a true goodbye when you had to part with your overalls as a young girl? Well, your childhood dream has come true; the overall trend is back for this spring. The ensemble made an appearance on the Ruffian runway according to Lucky Magazine. If your on the same page with loving the comeback of the overalls as Lucky Mag writer Alison Syrett, the fashion expert provides you with brands that already have the look in store for this season. Check out iconic brands like BCBG, Free People, Madewell and MSGM. The Glitter Guide suggests wearing the 90’s look with stylish and sleek accessories along with a clutch in order to have the overall look seem revived and up to date. The shirt that is worn under the overalls is essentially what establishes the intent of the outfit. If you are looking for a relaxed look try a tee shirt of a solid color or stripes underneath. On the contrary, if you are looking for something a bitt dressier, experiment with a blazer or dressy top underneath, the mood of the denim get-up is completely in your hands! This is a great look for the upcoming warm weather, check out the newest overall selections or rummage through your old closet, you may find the perfect pair!

Looking Back at the Memorable Life of Lilly Pulitzer

Known for her bright and iconic preppy patterns, at the age of 81, Lilly Pulitzer passed away in Palm Beach, Florida on April 7th. As every beginning has its rough patches, Pulitzer began her employment career juicing citrus at a family business in 1982. As time went on during Pulitzer’s juicing career, she began to realize a type of clothing was in need in order to match the reoccurring juice stains she received throughout the day. As Lilly began receiving acknowledgment and compliments on her self-made dress for juicing, this opened up the doors to her own fashion line, which was launched in 1959. The launch of her new fashion line took a booming and successful turn. The designer’s first store was opened on Worth Avenue in 1961. The Daily Beast reports that dresses were then priced around $22. The Lilly Pulitzer Company flourished, especially when Pulitzer’s former classmate Jackie Kennedy was spotted wearing an item from the Pulitzer collection. Despite the millions of dollars grossing for the company, it was a challenge to keep up with the other large fashion lines within the industry. This then lead to a steady decline in sales for the well-known preppy clothing line. With many factors involved, Pulitzer decided it was most beneficial to sell the clothing line. In 1994, the company was then taken over by Sugartown Worldwide Inc. as Pulitzer decided it was best to become a consultant. As the brand expanded into other types of clothing and accessories, Oxford Industries then bought the company again in 2006 for a sum of $60 million. Although Lilly Pulitzer is no longer with us, she has left an extraordinary presence that will always remain in the elite fashion industry. As the warmer weather approaches, take a look into the iconic designers line and remember, “it is always summer somewhere”.

The amount of beauty products and treatments our hair goes through is countless. As a woman, between the different types of hot tools, hair products and color treatments we experience it is important to keep up with the condition of your hair. One of the most common difficulties while trying to maintain your hair is the high level of dryness and coarseness you may encounter. According to Glamazini, influences such as not hydrating yourself, moisturizing and over-coloring are major vulnerabilities we expose to our hair without thinking twice. Beauty experts share their secrets about maintaining a healthy head as well as adding a sense healthiness and shine. Allure suggests adding a cup of vinegar to a cup of water over your hair after your shampoo and conditioner routine. It is advised to wait a total of fine minutes and then rinse the vinegar out, which will remove any mineral buildup. Cosmopolitan suggests an at-home glazing process that can be used for all hair types. The Frédéric Fekkai Salon Glaze Clear Shine Rinse, priced at $28.00 is recommended to repair ends and help with increasing shine. The beauty magazine also supplies readers with a do-it-yourself process, similar to Allure. The beauty secret consists of mixing apple cider, vinegar and baking soda within of a quart size bottle, which then you will mix with your shampoo. This treatment is recommended to be used on a weekly basis. Be sure to maintain a healthy hair condition and shine on! Pictures taken from Google Images

Since this spring’s 2013 fashion week, stripes have made an appearance and are here to stay. Whether thin, bold, horizontal or vertical, designers have included the basic stripe on this season’s ready-wear clothing. Looking further into the type of stripe, The Examiner explains the use of wider horizontal stripes can be seen mainly on sweaters, skirts and blazers. While thinner striped pieces of clothing are used on all types of clothing for a sense of elegance. A selective handful of designers successfully landed the striped look during this year’s fashion week. Oscar de La Renta displayed a floor length gown accompanied by horizontal and vertical stripes, as Marc Jacobs showed the style in a bold black and white one -piece suit. As other designers presented the striped look as well, many of them have a common theme, a black and white color scheme. Whether it is a dress, top, suit or pair of pants, the generic colors of black and white accompany the bold look as well as compliment the stripes, allowing the article of clothing to not be too overbearing. Check out the look and have a little fun by putting stripes in your wardrobe! Image taken from Google Images

Now that you’ve had a few days to digest the Oscar winners, lets trace back to the monumental event and look at the memorable designer gowns and jewelry. A trend that was highly recognizable were gowns of a pale hue color. These neutral colored, floor length gowns were worn by Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture, Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta and Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive strapless gown. As well, all of the neutral gowns were complimented by breathtaking dress trains, which left a touch of elegance. Another trend that caught the attention of Oscar viewers was metallic and glitz, exhibited through gowns and magnificent jewelry. Naomi Watts presented this look beautifully with a one-shoulder Georgio Armani Prive metallic dress. Others that wore the look are Stacy Kiebeler in Naeem Khan and Nicole Kidman in L’Wren Scott. As the metallic gowns left us speechless, the amount of diamonds and jewels left us breathless and almost blinded. Jennifer Garner was not afraid to shine herself up, wearing a total of 200 carats through Neil Lane diamond necklace, bracelet and earrings. Along with Garner’s $2.5 million worth of jewels, others sparkled with pieces from Tiffany and Co. along with infamous Harry Winston. Other beautiful gowns consisted of popping shades of red and blue. As the shades of red varied, the color complimented actresses Jennifer Aniston in Valentino and Kerry Washington in Miu Miu. Royal blue seemed to be on the mind for Reese Witherspoon in a black and blue strapless Louis Vitton dress as well as Jennifer Hudson in a leg-flaunting Robert Cavalli gown. What caught your eye? The gowns, the glitz or the skin?

Known for building his successful fashion lines for over 20 years, designer Marc Jacobs has recently gone where no fashion designer has gone before. Before the designer’s new project is revealed, lets briefly trace back to the building blocks of his career. Since the year 1997, Marc Jacobs has worked with Louis Vitton in the brands artistic visions and culture, turning Vitton from “a brand to a house”. Since this accomplishment, he has also developed his own fashion lines, Marc Jacobs and a little-sister line Marc by Marc Jacobs. As he successfully continues designing, Marc Jacobs stands for clothing that is not afraid to make a statement. He stands behind his creative ideas by sharing that, “Fashion has to have irony right now”. As Diet Coke celebrates their anniversary in Europe, the company has recently appointed Marc Jacobs as their creative director. This decision quickly was exhibited through the limited editions of Diet Coke cans, designed by Marc Jacobs himself. There are three designs presented in support of the anniversary, each design signifying the fashion decades of the 1980s, 1990s and the 2000s. As the 1980s are indicated through tuxedos and butterfly bowties, the 90s are represented through stiletto heals and high gloves. As the most recent, 2000, is shown through a “sporty-energetic chic“ woman. Looking forward to the next project from Marc Jacobs, the man continues to amaze us!
